Frankie & Olly’s Destination Wedding at Borgo Stomennano, Tuscany, Italy is a lesson in how to throw a mega party and have the time of your lives, when your wedding plans are totally derailed. Easyjet went on strike, guests had to take massive diversions and make epic journeys, flights were cancelled and after a week of sunshine & 40+ degree heat, the storm decides to hit on your wedding day. You could think yourselves unlucky, or you could be like Frankie, Olly & their awesome crew. These guys weren’t going to let torrential rain & fork lightning ruin their wedding parade. Oh no. They were drenched & the tables were floating but they made the best memories and turned this Borgo Stomennano Wedding into one nobody will ever forget, for all the right reasons.

After a week of sweltering heat, which had Toby and I purchasing emergency swimwear, seeking out a local swimming pool & frantically Googling restaurants with air con, we were pretty shocked when the wedding planner predicted rain on the wedding day. Massive respect to Frankie & Olly who were brave, undeterred and a little bit British about the weather and went determinedly ahead with their dreamy woodland wedding breakfast set up. After a gorgeous ceremony in the gardens at Borgo Stomennano, we were enjoying Italian ice cream and the aperitivo, when the skies suddenly changed & unleashed driving rain and an almighty thunder storm. At this point, the bride and groom had a choice – panic and be miserable or take action. The bridal party & their team of absolute heroes in black tie carried tables, all the decor, crockery, crates of booze etc. inside and re-set the whole wedding breakfast in record time. It was a mini miracle! I found myself shooting with one hand and polishing wine glasses with another 🙂 If Frankie & Olly ever wanted proof of their friends’ love, it was definitely in the dripping wet tuxes!!! The meal was saved & it made the party even wilder! What a wedding day story!!!

Borgo Stomennano Wedding Venue, Tuscany, Italy

There are some venues that just get you right in the feels. Borgo Stomennano is hands down one of the most stunningly beautiful, atmospheric wedding venues we’ve ever seen. We had a proper “OMG how did we bag this one?!” kind of moment, as we walked up the tree-lined driveway and saw the ancient archway connecting two immense villas. Then we discovered the gardens, fountains, frescos, pool, olive groves and it was official : Borgo Stomennano is the venue of Italian wedding dreams. Just when we thought it couldn’t get any better, we were greeted by Dante, the resident Great Dane. What a dawg! I love that the family still live on site. It adds to the whole this is my Italian home for the weekend vibe.

I could talk for hours about this one but I think the photos will tell a far better story. So all that’s left is to tell the bride & groom how truly incredible you both are.
